    Not so quiet Christmas

This year, we were unable to travel to Korea, but this gave us a chance to stay in Singapore and spend some quiet time at home. We made some time with friends, and did what we are now accustomed to do, chat and merry make over Zoom.

    Christmas eve with the neighbours

We had a good feast at home, with the Kitanos. Once more our capable helper showed off her culinary skills, whipping up pizzas, fried chicken and oven baked pork ribs. Yum yum. The kids and myself performed some songs to spend the night – was bad on my part cos we didn’t really prepare.. In the end, we still had fun – lucky for the karaoke equipment I bought, ahem.

    Kai garden at Marina Square

Dinner with friends again, this time at Kai garden in Marina Square. Took time to do some shopping and I must say, was pretty refreshing for a change (from online shopping). What a difference a few months have made to make me say such things.. Good catching up with Ziming, wife and Nicole, at a wonderful place. The Peking duck here is woolala.

Hosting dinner for our favorite people

Great to be able to host a nice dinner with my good friends from school days. Beef was great, but again forgot to take pictures of the food. But luckily we had proof that this event existed. Great company and for a joyous occasion, for which Bala brought a bottle of Moet & Chandon. He shook it well before we opened and gave me a bewildered looked when the expensive champagne overflowed. “Why do you have that surprised look to what is a natural consequence of you shaking that bottle of champagne??” I asked. I think someone watched too much F1 races.

    Spanish tonight

We’ve decided we will do a new restaurant from each country/region for our monthly date. And tonight was Spanish. We ordered a bottle of wine to share between us, to go with the oh so yummy garlic prawn, piaela, and tapas.

    Belief

Had a drink with a friend who was going through a rough patch in his married life. Essentially, rendering a change of said status. I sent him home. Before he got off the car, he turned to me and said, “If you really want it to work, you’ve got to believe that it can work. For me, I lost that belief. Don’t lose it.” I let it sink in. Thanks for the advice, was all I could muster.
